Older Marching Band Semi Trailer News:
April 30, 2008: There has been a lot of very exciting things happening and I wanted to send out this e-mail to keep everyone informed. Yesterday All Type Truck & Trailer Repair in Warren picked up the Trailer. They are going to install a new 4' x 7' side door Semi Trailer, sandblast paint dolly legs, undercarriage, wheels, door frame and bumper also sand, prep and then paint all aluminum panels bright white. This will give a great base for graphics when they are decided on. The transportation department agreed to get the Trailer annual DOT Certification completed while it is in getting painted. Getting this done every year early in summer will keep us from interrupting service during Band season.
Bruce Bethuy has finished the CAD drawing of the interior design. As for the interior design this is very close to what we will be building as soon as can procure all the materials. Attached is a material wish list of what we still need. If any of you can help us acquire any of the items on the list it would be gratefully appreciated.
We are in need of an energetic individual that can find sponsors for the Band Trailer to help offset the expenses. Anyone with an interest please contact me and I will help get you started.
Mike Greer, Elon Jamison and myself walked the area around the school to find the best locations for the Band Trailer during the season so the driver would be able to get it in and out also for security, Elon is going to champion or decisions with the district.
I will be posting photos of the trailer showing our progress as we go.
If there is anyone that is not receiving this email that wants to be on the list tell him or her to send an email and I will get him or her on the list. As you all can see the last few weeks have been very exciting and we are starting to pull things together. If anyone has a special talent or desire to help please speak up as things are starting to happen fast and we all have the same goal the Kids and Band Members!!
On April 1, 2008 we had two gentlemen from All Type Truck & Trailer Repair in Warren looking at the band trailer to give us ideas and better quotes on a number of items. First the side door it can be made many sizes but they suggested that door width would be 40" wide, height 7'. As for putting the door at the higher level it can be done but they suggested that the lower location is much better for many reasons ease of installation, lower entry height for ease of use. One of the gentlemen was a graphic artist in large-scale arts he was giving us ideas and working up prices. They also talked about painting the trailer and annual certification.

On March 13, 2008 we made a trip to Novi, as they were gracious to open their semi trailer for us to see their layout. John at Novi was very helpful to explain their process of loading and unloading, also explaining many of the bottlenecks they have had. I have taken many photos so those who were unable to attend can see Novi's layout.
As many of you are aware we made a trip to Plymouth-Canton last fall. They were very helpful in explaining their process of loading and unloading. They were the first to admit there trailer design no longer works well for them and suggested we make a trip to Novi. I unfortunately did not have a camera with me on that trip so do not have any photos.
I have also sent an email to Lance Cruse Marching Band as they just had a side door installed on their semi trailer by All Points Great Dane. I have not heard from them to this point. Paula Cardelli said there are two contractors who have offered materials and labor for the trailer. We also have a sample letter to send to prospective company sponsors, so if anyone is aware of a company that has show some interest we now can send them a letter and show levels of sponsorship. See link for Donor Level & Map Truck Travel.
