Pre-school through 6th Grade
Saturday dance classes are offered in both fall and winter nine week sessions. Tap, jazz and ballet are explored. A fun filled performance is held at the conclusion of each session. Please check this website for specific dates and times. Fall session begins Saturday September 20, 2014.
Middle School OpportunitiesThe Ferndale Middle School program offers one/two levels of dance per trimester ending in a culminating performance in our beautifully renovated stage and auditorium.
High School Opportunities
The High School program offers three levels of dance: Intro to Dance, Theatrical 1 and Theatrical 2. Theatrical 2 can be repeated for credit. Each semester is finalized with a corroborated performance with CASA dancers.
The CASA (Center for Advanced Studies and the Arts) program is our Advanced Dance classes. A student may elect to take two hours of dance or one hour of dance if the student is enrolled in another CASA class. CASA dancers perform in three evening forums and tour to Elementary Schools within the consortium. Semester two provides opportunity to choreograph and audition solos, duets, small group dances for the annual CASA Showcase in April.
The Ferndale Dance Team is an extracurricular program offered to students in the ninth through twelfth grades. Auditions are held in June for the following school year. Mandatory rehearsals are after school with performances at athletic events and all dance concerts. The FHS Dance team hosts two nine week Saturday Dance class sessions for elementary aged students.
The Ferndale High Musicals offer yet another opportunity for our students to dance! Depending on the Musical selected, dance rehearsals begin in December through opening night! Last year's Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, staged at least ten different dances with lots and lots of tap!
