10/28/2006 - THREE-PEET!! October 28th, 2006 started out cold and rainy but ended on a very bright note as the Ferndale Golden Eagle Marching Band won their THIRD STRAIGHT Michigan Competing Band Association Flight III State Championship title. Ferndale scored an 81.8, and captured the judge's awards for Best Music, Best Marching and Best General Effect. Ferndale just nudged out Stevensville Lakeshore who also performed a fabulous show and had a second place score of 80.8. Congratulations to all bands that competed!!! Complete scores now available .

10/23/2006 - MCBA State Finals Information - MCBA State Finals will be held this Saturday (Oct. 28) at Ford Field, regardless of whether there is a World Series game that same evening. Flight III begins at 8:00 PM, with Ferndale performing at 10:00 PM. Awards are scheduled for 10:30 PM. Click here for the complete MCBA State Finals schedule.

10/22/2006 - Marching Band Takes 1st Place at Lakeland Competition - Congratulations to the FHS Golden Eagles Marching Band. They finished 1st in Flight III competition at yesterday's event at Lakeland High School with a score of 77.45. The band also received all three caption awards: best music; best marching; and, best general effect. Based on average scores over the entire season, FHS is currently ranked 2nd in the state, behind Stevensville-Lakeshore. Click here for complete scores from the Lakeland competition. 10/14/2006 - Ferndale Marching Band Takes 1st Place at Plymouth Competition - Congratulations to the FHS Golden Eagle Marching Band. They finished 1st in Flight III competition at today's MCBA event at Plymouth-Canton. The band received a score of 69.15 and also earned awards for best marching and best general effect. Farmington-Harrison finished 2nd with a score of 68.45 and received the award for best music. 3rd place went to Redford-Thurston with a score of 62.5. Complete Scores

10/13/2006 - Zap-a-Snack Fund Raiser Pick-up is Oct. 17th - For those who participated in the Zap-A-Snack fund raiser, orders will be delivered on Tuesday, Oct. 17th. They should be picked up between 3 - 6 PM in the FHS orchestra room (former band room). Orders must be picked up at this time as we do not have capacity to store them. 10/9/2006 - Congratulations to the Ferndale Marching Band for their performance Saturday at their very first BOA Regional Competition. Ferndale finished 13th out of 26 bands from 10 different states. They received a score of 69.30 and finished 5th in the Flight II category. Complete Scores

9/28/2006 - Zap-a-Snack orders due - Order forms and payments for the Zap-a-Snack fundraiser were due yesterday, September 27th. If your child forgot to turn his/hers in, they can still do so today (Thursday) but no later. The delivery date for this fundraiser has not yet been set but should take place in about two weeks.We will post the date on the website as soon as it is known. 9/26/2006 - Exciting News! Ferndale has been selected as a site for both a MCGC (Michigan Color Guard Circuit) competition and a WGI (Winter Guard International) Regional competition. The MCGC Contest will be held January 20, 2007. The WGI Regional will be held February 24, 2007.

9/20/2006 - Pep Band Only at Thursday (9/22) Football Game - The Marching Band will not be performing at Thursday's football game. However, the Pep Band will be playing and should report to the band room at 3:15 PM on Thursday for rehearsal, and at 6:30 PM for the actual game. Please be sure to wear your H2O shirts.

9/17/2006 - Congratulations to the FHS Golden Eagle Marching Band on Their 1st Place Finish at Novi! - The Marching Band began its competitive marching season yesterday with a 1st place finish in Flight III competition at Novi High School. 9/14/2006 - Zap-a-Snack Fund Raiser Underway - This is a student account fund raiser particularly intended to help band and orchestra students pay for their February trip to Florida. The profit from each student's sales will be applied to their student fundraising account. Order forms can be obtained from Mr. Jamison in the high school band room. 9/13/2006 - 1st Marching Band Competition this Saturday, Sept. 16th, at Novi - Ferndale will perform at 5:45 PM. Click here for a map to Novi High School. Call time for band members is 10:00 AM. The band will return to FHS around 10:30 PM. All students should wear their H2O shirts. Woodwinds and percussion also need to bring white athletic socks.

9/6/2006 - BRAVO and a Standing Ovation to the FHS Jazz Band for a stellar performance at the Detroit Jazz Festival last Sunday. In addition to providing 45 minutes of music to a delighted audience, the band was judged by a panel of IAJE (International Association of Jazz Educators). Two of the three judges wrote sheets (much like the MSBOA sheets, but tougher). Ferndale scored a 90 from one and a 92 from the other, out of a possible score of 100. Mr. Jamison said, �I just felt like it was one of the strongest (if not THE strongest) performances the band has ever given in the 4 years I've been their director. I was very proud of them, and thought they handled themselves very well as musicians and young people. �

8/15/2006 - Jill Jack with Billy Brandt will perform a benefit concert for FAB-Taste of Music Capital Campaign on September 9, 2006 at FHS. Tickets include a picnic style dinner from 5:30-7pm, listening to warm-up band "The Fran Project Experience" at 7pm and Jill and Billy's performance at 7:30 pm. Tickets in advance: $20 adult, $15 student, at the door: $25 adult, $20 student.

Marching Band Reminder: Full ensemble rehearsals for The Ferndale Golden Eagle Marching Band start up again on Monday, July 31st at JFK School from 6 � 9 p.m. The band will be back on the regular Monday/Wednesday schedule. Interlochen Band Camp is only 2 � weeks away!!
