The Ferndale Schools Fine Arts Boosters is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, formed in 2003, to support, encourage and promote any and all of the Ferndale Schools fine arts programs through parental and community involvement. FAB membership has grown every year and last year included 131 parents and community members.

In addition to activities directly sponsored by its Board of Directors, the FAB also has several committees that focus on supporting specific fine arts programs in the district.

OrchSupport : In 2009, Ferndale Orchestra Teacher Ben Moy and a group of dedicated parents established the OrchSupport Committee. Their mission is to provide financial and volunteer support for the development, enrichment, enhancement and inclusion of students in the Ferndale Schools Orchestra Program. The group accomplished its first goal of raising funds to purchase a set of electronic string instruments.

Marching Band : A long-standing FAB committee, this group provides volunteer and financial support to the award-winning FHS Marching Band. This past year, in addition to its many regular fund raisers, the Committee added the very successful Dinner and a Show event that raffled off a gourmet dinner for 10 with special Marching Band performance from the FHS stadium press box.

Visual Arts Aid: Formed in the fall of 2010, this new FAB committee is focused on raising funds to support the District's visual arts and dance programs.  Their first goal is to purchase a new kiln for the high school to replace the old, unreliable ones it currently has.

Since its inception, the FAB organization has focused primarily on supporting the high school fine arts programs. However, as membership has grown, FAB is broadening its efforts to support the elementary and middle school programs as well.  Last year, FAB sponsored a used instrument sale at Coolidge Intermediate School to help make low-cost, good condition instruments available to beginning band and orchestra students.  In the coming year, there are several additional activities FAB would like to explore at the elementary level.  These include purchasing instruments for the general music teachers and subsidizing semi-private music lessons for beginning instrumental students. However, to develop and fund these and other fine arts programs, we need your help.
